Updated: Jan 23

Whether you live in Surrey, spent your childhood there, or just like the idea of holding your big day in the tranquil Surrey Hills, congratulations, and we are here to help you find the perfect venue for your Wedding! If you are confused about where to start with your planning, or need assistance with venue searching, you can book a complimentary one hour consultation with us here.

Surrey, being so close to the London area is the perfect location if you have guests travelling from around the UK, or even coming from abroad, as the area is close to both Heathrow and Gatwick airports. If you are looking for a location which is close to the city, but gives you a countryside, luxury feel, then one of these venue recommendations could be the perfect answer to your venue searching conundrum!

I am in no way endorsed by these venues and these are purely recommendations from a freelance Wedding planner.

Botleys Mansion

This beautiful set in the Surrey countryside is owned and managed by Bijou. Just 30 minutes from central London, as mentioned above, is perfect for anybody travelling or if you are looking for a central UK location. This venue very much has a feel of a modern, luxury home and can hold up to 250 guests and even an extra 250 for your evening reception!

Personally, for us, we absolutely love the Atrium, with the sweeping staircase leading into the room which would make the most perfect entrance for your Wedding ceremony, and the two areas to each side of the room, which are perfect for extra seating areas and entertainment. You can also hold an alfresco wedding ceremony in the Temple Gardens which are just beautiful.

Full information regarding this venue, including a virtual tour, is all available on their website here: https://bijouweddingvenues.co.uk/venue/botleys-mansion/

Top tip: definitely utilise the staircase for your Wedding ceremony, but arrange for a rehearsal with your Wedding planner to practice walking down the stairs in your Wedding day shoes so you aren’t nervous about the prospect.

Great Fosters

A hotel venue, with a Michelin star restaurant, is perfect for any guests travelling out of town or if you are thinking of a Winter wedding, to keep everything in one place. Accommodation is a massive bonus with both of these scenarios, so not only will your guests be arriving to this stunning estate, but the venue will also work logistically well for everybody.

For your ceremony and wedding breakfast, the venue can seat up to 160 guests, with a further 90 (250 total) for the evening reception. There is even the option for an smaller celebration for up to 20 guests in the Tudor Room which is the perfect space to give a intimate ambience to your day.

The gardens within this venue are absolutely stunning, some of the nicest gardens we have seen at a venue, featuring a moat, with a bridge across – perfect for pictures of you as a couple.

Top tip: meet with your planner and photographer at the venue prior to your day; there is so much potential for many stunning photographs at this venue that I would advise you have a plan with your planner and photographer on what locations and photographs you would like on the day so you don’t miss any of your favourite spots!

Cain Manor

This venue is perfect if you are looking for a barn style venue with a countryside feel, but again, close to links to central London or an easily accessible UK venue. The manor features a long drive, keeping guests in anticipation as they approach such a stunning venue with a really wow factor. The venue has a real rustic and English charm, giving a relaxed but luxurious feel to your day.

There are spaces available for couples both inside and outside, perfect if you would like a summer outdoor wedding but need a plan B for the typical English weather, (!) or if you would like a winter wedding but in a venue which has an outdoor feel.

The venue can host up to 123 for the day and 170 for the evening, so there is plenty of space for all of your guests. There is also a bridal suite and 12 bedrooms available onsite for any guests who wish to stay over.

We absolutely love the beams and the exposed timber frame, giving the property a real Tudor feel. The characteristics of this house have really been well looked after and are still retained even today.

Top tip: this very has so many characteristics that you really don’t need to go overboard with the décor! It looks truly stunning as it is!

Hartsfield Manor

This Surrey venue is grand, luxurious and breathtaking. If you want your guests to think ‘wow’ when they arrive, this Victorian venue is perfect.

With various spaces for you to choose from, you really get to decide which part of the venue works best for your day, and you even get your very own dressing room! New for 2020, there is now a pavilion featured in the gardens for outdoor ceremonies. The venue holds a maximum of 120 guests and also features 50 bedrooms for any guest accommodation.

We absolutely love the ivy climbing the external walls and the acres of land surrounding the venue, perfect for your Wedding photos. You also don’t need to worry if you are struggling to find a venue which has chairs you like and think you may need to hire these additionally; this venue has perfect chivari chairs as standard!

Top tip: Even if you don’t opt for an outside ceremony, make use of the pavilion area for your photographs.

Northbrook Park

The front of this venue is spectacular and looks so beautiful when you are driving up to it. Covered with ivy at the front, this 18th century manor house, again situated perfectly just outside of London, really gives you a luxury feel – all of your guests will be commenting on how beautiful your venue is.

What makes this venue even more perfect is that it is dry hire, so you can have exactly what you want for your day, the suppliers you want and the catering that you want!

The vine room is one of our favourite spaces – there is so much light, and even features crystal chandeliers! If you want a light an airy feel to your day, this is the perfect space for you. The Orangery is the largest space, holding up to 300 guests in total.

Top tip: Hire an event manager for the day, this is where we come in! We have managed weddings at Northbrook Park and absolutely love this venue! Information here: services

Froyle Park

Owned by the same company as Northbrook Park, this 16th Centrury Jacobean house is another which just looks amazing when the view hits you as you drive down the driveway, especially with the external fountain in the centre of your view.

Our favourite part of this venue has to be The Dome, situated in the immaculate gardens, which you can get married under, with all of your guests watching behind you. The view past The Dome is also spectacular, such a perfect setting for your ceremony.

Again, this venue is dry hire which just gives you so much flexibility. The venue can hold up to 300 guests in total and also has 27 bedrooms and self-contained apartments – perfect for the Bridal party to get ready in on the morning of the Wedding.

What we also love about Froyle Park is there are different impressions around the venue. The Grand Ballroom is light, modern and airy, then the great hall holds a more traditional feel, with the wooden panelled walls, and the gardens and surrounding land give that countryside aura.

Top Tip: As with Northbrook Park, make sure to hire an Event Manager. There is also a lot of stairs between the Bridal rooms and the event spaces, so make sure they are happy with this, I cannot tell you the amount of stairs we climb each time we are there!
